Motorcycle Maintenance - Getting ready to hit the roads

**Motorcycle Maintenance Before You Ride**

Motorcycles are a great way to get around, but they require a bit of maintenance to keep them running smoothly. Here are a few things you should check before you take your bike out for a ride. I f you're ever uncomfortable about doing these checks, take your bike in and have your qualified dealership do the inspection for your piece of mind.

* **Oil level:** Check the oil level on your bike's dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick. If the oil level is low, add more oil until it reaches the "full" mark.

* **Oil condition:** Check the color and condition of your bike's oil. The oil should be a light brown color. If the oil is black or has a thick, oily consistency, it needs to be changed.

* **Coolant level:** Check the coolant level in your bike's radiator. The coolant level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the radiator. If the coolant level is low, add more coolant until it reaches the "full" mark.

* **Brake fluid level:** Check the brake fluid level in your bike's master cylinders. The brake fluid level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the master cylinders. If the brake fluid level is low, add more brake fluid until it reaches the "full" mark.

* **Tire pressure:** Check the tire pressure in your bike's tires. The tire pressure should be between the "min" and "max" psi ratings on the side of your tires. If the tire pressure is low, add air to the tires until it reaches the correct psi rating.

* **Chain condition:** Check the condition of your bike's chain. The chain should be clean and free of rust. If the chain is rusty or damaged, it needs to be replaced.

* **Brake pads:** Check the condition of your bike's brake pads. The brake pads should be at least 2mm thick. If the brake pads are worn down to less than 2mm, they need to be replaced.

By following these simple maintenance tips, you can help keep your motorcycle running smoothly and safely.
